 The AMSF International Rising Star Program was established in 2008 to ensure talented young Australian drivers reach their potential on the international motor sport stage. The aim of the Program is to manage and develop selected Australian drivers participating internationally, who are aiming to compete at the pinnacle of their chosen motor sport discipline. This year the AMSF is supporting two drivers; Daniel Erickson and Molly Taylor.
CAMS Rising Star graduate Daniel Erickson is competing in the highly competitive 2009 British Formula ford Championship. Following in the footsteps of former AMSF International Rising Star Tim Blanchard, Erickson is having a solid and promising season to date. Currently in seventh position on the championship table, Erickson has had some very impressive results, with a second and third place finish a recent outing at Knockhill.
“Knockhill was a great experience for me. We had a lot of pace and I really enjoyed myself out there. With a couple of podiums, I am really excited for the remainder of the season,” Erickson said.
Just last weekend Erickson took on the challenging Snetterton circuit; and came away with a third place in Round 10. Rounds 11 and 12 resulted in two top 12 finishes, which ensured Erickson remains in touch with the leaders; leading into the next round of the championship at Donington Park on 17 – 18 July.
AMSF International Rising Star Molly Taylor has had a dream start to the 2009 season, with two wins in her first two outings in the 2009 Suzuki Swift Sport Cup. Taylor, the first female to be a part of the AMSF International Rising Star Program has showed an enormous amount of potential this season; and has the results to boast. Leading the 2009 championship, Taylor is only hungry for more success and strengthening her hold on the title.
“I am just looking to make the most out of every round, take all my chances and hopefully come away with a win from my next round. My confidence is really high and I am really looking forward to the rest of the season and hopefully taking out the Championship,” Taylor said.
Taylor will be in action again this weekend (10 – 11 July), at the Isle of Man International Tarmac Rally. Taylor currently leads the 2009 Suzuki Swift Sport Cup leading into the fourth round.
