How do I pass the time in Hospital?
Many young people can feel bored during long stays in hospital. Some ideas to help pass the time are:
- Listen to music. Bring in your iPod or MP3.
- Bring in books and magazines
- Ask your treating team whether there are any music groups, relaxation, meditation groups you can join
- Take 'time-out' from the hospital if you're well enough. Some fresh air and sunshine can make a big difference to your mood!
- Watch some TV or ask if there is access to DVDs or a computer
- Ask your family and friends to bring in your favourite food
- Bring in posters, photos or special things to make you feel more at home
Plus any other "inside/on-a-wet-day" type activities which take your fancy! Letter writing, journal writing, jewellery making, putting together a photo album are a few more suggestions to get you thinking. Believe it or not, some patients have found inspiration for artwork during hospital stays!!
Access to a computer may be possible for work or study purposes.
